Have Your Say: A New Community Bus for Maldon to Sandon
In partnership with Community360

Let’s Reconnect Maldon’s Villages
Many rural communities across the Maldon District are cut off from regular public transport. Without access to a car, residents can miss vital healthcare appointments, face long walks to the shop, or experience growing social isolation.
The closure of local services has only made this worse. We're working with Community360 to introduce a dedicated community bus service — one designed to reconnect people with school, shopping, healthcare and each other.
This isn’t just about transport — it’s about freedom, connection, and giving residents a real voice.
Take our short survey to help shape the route and show support for a service that could benefit your village.
Help Us Plan The Route
We’re gathering feedback from residents across the Maldon District to help shape a new community bus route between Maldon and Sandon.
Your feedback will directly influence the route, stops and timetable.
The map below shows our proposed route.
If your village isn’t listed — or you have ideas to improve it — let us know through the survey.

What Your Feedback Helps Us Achieve
Your feedback doesn’t just shape a bus timetable — it helps create real, lasting change for our rural communities.
From better access to education and healthcare, to tackling social isolation, this initiative is about much more than transport.
Here’s what your input could help us achieve:

Access to Education
A safe, reliable bus route means young people in rural villages can get to schools and colleges like Sandon School without long walks or expensive alternatives.

Access to Healthcare and Essential Services
The service would link residents with key services like GPs, pharmacies, shops and Chelmsford town centre — cutting out long or costly journeys.

Reducing Isolation
This isn't just about transport — it’s about connection. A community bus helps older residents, carers and those without cars stay socially and economically active.
